Who do I talk with about fence or construction plans?

Approval of plans (3.2)

No construction, reconstruction, remodeling, alteration, or addition of or to any structure, building, fence, wall, drive, or improvement of any nature shall be constructed without obtaining prior written approval.

A homeowner needs prior written approval before construction begins. This especially includes fences, storage sheds, patio, porch or deck additions, driveway alterations, pools and even landscaping and tree planting, depending on what you want to do. There are guidelines which prohibit some plantings, based on mature height and location. Please refer to our Covenants here.

Any changes or alterations to colors (painting any exterior piece of your property) must be submitted to the Architectural Review Committee. You do not need to submit the request if you are simply repainting the same color again.

Thank you in advance for submitting all construction plans in writing to the Board for approval before construction begins as required by our Covenants.

Please take advantage of the following helpful resources before calling and prior to any construction, the Davidson County Interactive Mapping Site and Tennessee One Call. Links to these must-visit web sites are also provided on our Links page. The interactive maps, available aerial photography and topographic elevation line layers will help identify your lot frontage lines and distances away from the street to the rear of your property. Tennessee One Call is a free service available to determine the location of underground gas, electric and cable lines. The cost of not calling may be expensive and life threatening. Always call before you dig. It’s the law!

If you don’t know for certain exactly where your property lines are, you may need to call a surveyor to help you establish the boundary.

Please print out your property information, and use the aerial photography of your house and lot (1:250 scale) to indicate where you want your construction done. Then contact an Architectural Review Committee member for a site visit and written approval before construction begins.

Summary

1. Call Tennessee One Call to locate underground gas, electric and cable lines.

2. Call surveyor to map out lot lines if you are not absolutely certain.

5. Submit plans in writing to the Board. Using an air photo or information from the Davidson County Interactive Mapping Site will help everyone to be clear regarding your plans.

7. Get written approval from the Architectural Review Committee.

You may email the Architectural Review Committee here for assistance in this process.
